Gold Coast City Council Backs the Dream

Gold Coast City Council have signed on as 2nd major sponsor of the Griffith University Paradise Regatta for the 2nd year in a row.

The inclusion of television coverage in the 2009 event was a pivotal factor in the tough ecconomic times.

Gold Coast City Council have supported this event from its earliest days with Mayor Ron Clarke presenting the medallions and trophies at the pilot regatta in 2007.

Since then the event experienced a meteoric expansion with the help of GCCC Special Events funding in 2008 and now is on the bring of simultaneously (a) boosting the GCCC ecconomy with another iconic mass participation sports tourism event and (b) promoting the Gold Coast with a race documentary broadcast planned for 55 countries.

Its a credit to the GCCCs forward thinking vision to continue to fund viable, innovative and exciting projects at the peak of the global recession. Its an endorsement and responsibility the Griffith University Paradise Regatta gratefully receives.

Griffith University Re-Sign as Naming Rights Sponsor

Griffith University have resigned as Paradise Regatta naming rights sponsor for the 3rd straight year. Australias most exciting university has backed this creative and exciting sports tourism TV project from its earliest days and assisted greatly in bringing the project to fruition as an international broadcast in 2009.

The news was celebrated over a glass of champagne by the Paradise Regatta Organising Team as this critical base funding will cover the costs of the TV broadcast ensuring an attractive event to both sub-sponsors, crew sponsors and competitors.

"Its really exciting to have Griffith on board again. Investing in this event is just one example of Griffith's commitment to developing and stimulating the Gold Coast ecconomy by funding the creation of another mass participation event like the Gold Coast Marathon - but on water." Dr David Houston said.
