
The Griffith University Paradise Regatta 2009 Photographic Highlights Collection
Saturday October 10th began with clear skies and a gentle south easterly breeze over beautiful Surfers Paradise.

The ergos and e-row software was set up early in the morning for the grand opening and ergo challenge.

Attention then turned to the 2km match races on the bending Nerang River course from Buds Beach to the Gold Coast Arts Centre.
Fully licensed marquees with freshly cooked food and live entertainment was set up to create a great social event on the bank.

Broadwater Dragons win the inaugural Elite Dragon Boat Race - well done!
Moreton Hire - Surfers Paradise Rowing Club win the Corporate Ladies VIII and like all the winners receive $1500 from Swift Racing Australia that can be spent on any of their world class rowing and dragon boats.

Vice Chancellor of Griffith University Professor Ian O'Connor praises the regatta as a great example of Griffith University student innovation.
Smiles all round as UQ take home the men's and women's Griffith University Boat Race trophy.

Australia presented with the Griffith University Paradise Regatta Trophy for the Australia New Zealand Boat Race.
Also presented on the day was the Sam Le Compe Trophy which honors the work of this recently passed servant to the sport in both Australia and NZ.
Mahe Drysdale (4x World Single Scull Champion 05,06,07,09) thanks the Griffith University Paradise Regatta for a great event.
"Thanks so much. Although if the judges (pictured right) were New Zealander's things could be a bit different now." Mahe said jokingly.
